With the appointment of Leon S. Friedman as Junior Division Campaign Chairman last week, the young people of Columbua are being mobilized for their aid as workers in securing the large sum of money needed by the United JewLsh Fund bene¬ ficiaries.
"These are serious times," Mr. Friedman state<i. "and i am calling upon every young man and woman in our division lo do his share In shouldering the responsibility we. aa free Ameri¬ can Jewish youth, have to help those so unfortunate as to have been caught in the net of totall tarlan life."
In a statement by Mr. Ratner this week, he stated that youth groups of permanent association meet In conferences in various regions throughout the country under the sponsorship of either the Council of Federations and Welfare I^unds or the Jewish Welfare Board to discuss their mutual problems- Some Junior groups exist only as campaign adjuncts, reorgan¬ ized each year. Columbus' Junior group is one sponsored by the loc-al Jewish Youth Council which functions the year 'round. "In maintaining this uninter¬ rupted association and carrying oul ils program, the Junior Group is proving to be a val¬ uable training school for future community leaders," Mr. Ratner said. Women's Division Plans Luncheon For Wednesday
The Women's Division of tiie United Jewish Fund which had last year done a tremendous job in an outstanding fashion, has indicated that this year the work pt the Division will be rriore important than ever   This dlvl
With the slogan "For them and for us—L^f(^, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness" Columbus Jewry officially launched its annual United .lewish Fund Campaign last Thursday night at the Winding Hollow Country Club. Over I.'iO attended the event whch was presided over by Simon Lazarus. Treasurer of the Fund.
The dinner meeting, which every year highlights the beginning of the fund-raising effort for over ,50 agencies vital to Jewish existence, welfare and protection through¬ out the world, was unquestionahly the most outstanding affair from the standpoint of entliusiasm and response. Over one half of the quota for IIMI was raised in subscrip¬ tions that evening.

Community Council Delegates To Attend Annual Meeting
All delegates to the Jewish Community Council of Colum¬ hus are urged to attend the an nual meeting of the organization next Thursday, June 26, 8 P. M. at the Schonthal Center. Elec tion of officers for the coming year and other important busi ness will be transacted at that time.
Iji.sted among the accomplish ments of the Community Coun¬ cil during the past year are: the establishment of a calendar of events which has avoided con¬ flicts in meeting dates among organizations; adjustments Ihe field of public relations and civil rights; survey of Jewish education; special survey of He¬ brew education; and the eslah- Ushment of a College of Adult Jewish Studies.
These achievements, accord¬ ing to Dr. E. J. Gordon, Com¬ munity Council president, was made possible thru the partici¬ pation of the representatives from every group in our com¬ munity.

Campaign Chairman Schlff summed up Ihe campaign ably when he said: "There is no use In kidding ourselves. We have a big job ahead of us and it is going to take a lot of hard work to get it done, and we will get it done and done right."
