Davis, Chair¬ man of the American Red Cross, as he received the 97th anniver¬ sary award of B'nai B'rith's Dis¬ trict at a covenant breakfast at¬ tended by 3,000 members of B'nal B'rith and leaders in all walks of Hfe at the Waldorf-As. toria Hotel. In presenting the award to Mr. Davis, Henry Monsky, presi dent of B'nal B'rith, the oldest and largest national Jewish ser vice and fraternal organization, declared that "the machinery of the 900 B'nal B'riths units Ihroughout the country, and the manpower of their 150,000 men and women have been placed at the disposal of the Red Cross to aid in the execution of its home service program for the famil¬ ies of men called Into the arm¬ ed service of the United States. NEW YORK (WNS)—Leav¬ ing the door open for negotia¬ tions leading to the resumption ot the United Jewish Appeal, an extraordinary meeting of the American Jewish Joint Distri¬ bution Committee launched a na¬ lional campaign for $11,260,000 for the relief and rehabilitation of overseas Jewry In 1941. Near¬ ly 1,000 Jewish Ieatiers from all parts of the country attended. Edward M. M. Warburg, son of the late Felix M. Warburg, was unanimously elected chair¬ man of the J. D. C., succeeding Paul Baerwald, who has been serving In that post since 1932. Mr. Baerwald and Mrs Felix M. Warburg were named honor¬ ary' chairmen of the relief agency. The conference heard a mes¬ sage from President Roosevelt praising the work of the J. D. C. and expressing his wishes for "the success of Its endeav¬ ors."
