Roose¬ velt on East (i.'jth Street has been purchased for conversion into an interfalth center called the Sara Delano Roosevelt House at Hun¬ ter College, in memory of the i'resident's mother, it was reveal¬ ed here this week hy a sponsor¬ ing commitlee headed hy .lohn S. luirke. President of the Alt- man Foundation. Henry Monsky. President of B'nai B'rilh, and Charles H. Tultle, Director of the Greater New York Federation of Churches. Students of all races and creeds are to use the home, which is clo.se to the girls' col¬ lege, attended hy 12„500 students. The Newman Club, Catholic group, the B'nal R'rith Hillel Foundation and the Protestant group will each have a counsel¬ lor on the spot. Reveal Losses In Yiddish Newspaper Circulation NEW YORK (JPS)—The sharp, decline in recent years In thej circulation of the three major, Yiddish dailies was revealed here in an advertisement pubHshed in the Forward as part of a circu¬ lation war against lis afternoon contemporary, the Day, recently acquired by Morris Weinberg. Quoting the Audit Bureau of Circulation figures as of March 31, in42, the Forward staled that its daily circulation. In all edi¬ tions, is 128,531, rising lo 156,- 178 on Saturdays and I5fi,133 average on Sundays. The Jew¬ ish Morning Journal, wilh the next largest circulation, has 73,- 74-1 dally and 70,708 on Sundays. The Day has 50,270 readers dally, 54.:!.30 Saturdays and 54.603 on Sundays, it is estimated thai in the lasl decade, these newspa pers have lost al least 100,000 readers lietween them. While the Morning Journal has remained more or less con¬ stant in the last six-month per¬ iod, the Day lost 12,133 dally and 22.623 Sunday readers, the For¬ ward claimed, staling that it has gained 2,738 dally and 9.458 Sun¬ day during the same period. These figures reflect the steady losses resulting from the sloi> page of immigration, on the bne hand, and gradual transforma¬ tion of Yiddish readers inlo gen¬ eral daily newspaper purchasers.
