NEW YORK (JPS)—Speaking at Marble Collegiate Reformed Church at the tenth anniversary .service of Dr. Norman Peale, Mclhodi.st pastor here. Gover¬ nor Herhert H. Lehman appeal¬ ed for a revival of religious faith, saying that democracy and re¬ ligion depended upon each other for survival.
"Religion, whether it be Pro¬ testant, Catholic or Jewish holds that the Individual is fundamen¬ tally Important because he Is the child of God. It maintains that this status gives him Inherent rights which no man-made gov ernment can deny. There if great danger that a nation which fails to maintain an active re¬ ligion will have equally little in¬ terest in protecting that individ¬ uality of its citizens whch is so vital an attribute of democracy.

The war will present many important problems lo this body such as the education of Jewish and non-Jewish public opinion In this country for the support of ralestlne; the need of an acceler. ated tempo for the economic up- t)uil(ling of [Palestine as a means of strengthening its present posi. tion as a base for the near East ern Allied armies; strengthening its position as a haven of refuge and as a solution to the post¬ war European Jewish problem and last hut not least is the crea tion of a Jewish army and the strengthening of Palestine's de¬ fenses generally. There are ai¬ so some (juestions dealing with changes of internal Zionist or¬ ganization that will he given ser¬ ious consideration.

Dr. Braunstein Will Speak Here Oct. 29th.
Dr. Baruch Braunstein, of New York City, is to speak in Colum¬ bus on Thursday, October 29, under the auspices of the Colum¬ bus Zionist District with Sr. and Jr. Hadas.sah cooperating, It was announced this week.
Dr- Braunstein Is well known to the Columbus Jewish com¬ munity. While at Ohio State Universily he was identified with every Jewish movement on the t-ampus. Since graduation, he has travelled extensively, lec¬ turing on various phases of Jew¬ ish life and the Zionist cause in particular.
The local Jewish community Is invited to hear this Jewish lead¬ er and lecturer. More details are to be announced in forthcoming Issues of the Chronicle.

NEW VORK (JPS)—The Pio neer Women's Organization has adopted a goal of $10,000 for the United Jewish War Effort for Britain, Russia and China, Miss Dvorah Rothbard, national sec¬ retary announced here.
Only EIGHT more days until the 4th annual Bazaar and Jitney Supper, sponsored by the B'nai B'rilh Women of Zion Lodge, will gel under way. Every ef¬ fort is being made to make this gala affair the outstanding even on this year's social calendar. It's to be held on October 18, at K. of P- Hall. 69V S. High St.
