The Jewish women of Colum¬ hus gave an excellent demonstra¬ tion of campaigning to the men of the community in this year's United Jewish FuncI effort, ac¬ cording to Mrs. Allen Gunder¬ sheimer and Mrs. Jos. D. Schec¬ ter, co-chairmen ot the Women's Division, and Mrs. Robert Levy and Mr.s. \villlam Schiff, vice- chairmen. Climaxing several week.s of vigorous fund-raising effort on the part of many work¬ ers the results revealed a sub¬ stantial increase over last year's contributions.
In a joint statement this week, the Women's Division heads ex¬ pressed theii" apj>rectatlon to the captains and the 1043 campaign, workers for their loyalty and conscientious efforts and all'don- ors for their generous support. The Jewish women of this city, they said, can well bo proud of the magnificent achievement to¬ wards the alleviation ol wide¬ spread human suffering and the upholding of creative Jewish values.
The chairmen are still busily engaged in contacting prospects whom the captains were unable to reach for their subscriptions. Those women, who have not as yet contributed to the Fund drive, are asked to forward their checks to the office of the .United Jewish Fund, 150 E. Broad St., Columbus, Ohio.

NEW YORft (JPS) — At a meeting here of the Emergency Committee To Save The Jews of Europe, plans were discussed for the evacuation of 50,000 Jews a month from Nazi-occupied ter- Story through the utilization of transportation facilities pro¬ vided by neutral nations.
It was suggested by Dr. Mau¬ rice William, author and econo¬ mist that railroads and high¬ ways from the Nazi-occupied countries to Turkey, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland could be used to evacuate the Jewish vic¬ tims, who could then be trans¬ ferred to Palestine and to other United Nations territory. All neutral shipping now idle in American ports would also have to be utilized, he added.
The executive committee elect¬ ed Thomas J. Watson, Dr. Max Lerner, Representative Will Rog¬ ers, Jr., Sigrid Undset, Ben Hecht and Peter Bergson as co-chair¬ men Of the Emergency Commit¬ tee. "Vice-chairmen elected were Dean Alfange, Representative Andrew Somers, Jo Davidson. William S. Rennet, Li.sa Sergio. Fletcher Pratt, Dean George W. Mathesun, Dr. Francis E. Mac- Mahon, Oscar Ehrhorn. David Bookstaber, Konrad Bercovlci and Dr. Maurice William.
