IK The August 1st Issue of "The Ghetto Speaks", Issued by the American Representation of the General Jewish Workers' Union of Poland, publishes a report call¬ ed "Trembllnka Death Camp In Poland" . . . Now we've read all kinds of cfescrlptions ot Nazi atrocities against Jews . . . This report, however. Is the most real¬ istic story ever published any¬ where, telling how Jews who werei shlftcfi to Poland from oth¬ er countries are asphyxiated wholesale . . . Every American soldier should read this story before going Into battle against Hitler's hordes ... If he does, we promise you that he won't take any German prisoners alive. . .. . Pretty soon the Axis pow¬ ers will begin to wonder whether they didn't start .something they couldn't finish when they called the present conflict a "Jewish war" . . . Now it's 2nd Lt. Pincus Pcsso of Brooklyn who marie the headlines by leading an Ameri¬ can patrol to the end of the Munda airfield, thus ending the Battle of Munda . . . Among the wartime visitors in New York a couple of weeks ago were a doz¬ en or so Greek sailors, here for a well-earned rest after a spell of service with an Allied Fleet. . . They found Gotham hospitable , with everybody, ready. ^. give 'y'tijfetii't?gi66d?tlhie?;?*^iK'thet'te was one plaie they Ulced Ve$t of all -, so much that they went there dally and could hardly be pried away for the other enter¬ tainment provided for them . . . And that place was the Army and Navy Club of the Jewish Welfare Board . . . JBWISH NEWS . . . ^ Don't take any bets on the Presidency of the Zionist Organi¬ zation of America being; a closed matter . . . It's true that Rabbl Israel Goldstein and Abba Hillel Silver have come to an under¬ standing ... But if anything is going to interfere with Silver's taking over the leadership of Zionist political affairs In actual fact, and not merely in name, the Silver delegates will take the bit In their teeth and run away at the convention — and Silver may find himself elected, willy- nilly , . . Reports to the contrary notwithstanding, and although delegates from various parts of the country are already enroute to the American Jewish Confer¬ ence, that conclave may yet be postponed at the eleventh hour, or curtailed . . . Which Is the agency that is cashing in big for palming off free publicity about Henry Ford on the Anglo-Jewish press? . . . Maybe It's because Zionist Herman Shulman was the lawyer who successfully de¬ fended the Pepsi-Cola i)eop]e In the name suit instituted against them by the Coca-Cola Company some time ago -— but, anyway, a recent ad of the Coco-Cola "glo¬ bal" series showed American soldiers sharing their cokes wilh a tribe of Arabs, and titled the picture "How Americans Make Pals in I'alesllne"- . - I>L'TTIN<; NAZIS IN THBK PLACE.. .

RUMOR WASHINGTON OFFICIALS UR6!N6 DELAY IN AMERICAN JEWISH CONFERENCE
NEW YORK (JPS) — New York, harboring 7,000,000' people of every race and faith, has star¬ ted an experiment to show the rest of the nation how variegat¬ ed creeds and colors can live to¬ gether In amity. Beginning with a radio program on Sunday, Au gust 15th and for thirty days thereafter one radio station a day in the metropolis -will spon¬ sor a major program on the theme of "Unity at Home, Vic¬ tory Abroad".
Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt and Mayor LaGuardia launched the program, under municipal au¬ spices, by showing how New Yorkers have learned the ftsson of tolerance, good will and un¬ derstanding.
"Without unity at home, vic¬ tory abroad would mean noth¬ ing". Mayor LaGuardia declared In a speech broadcast from his home, at which he had enter¬ tained Negro radio singers as his guests at lunch. "Tolerance is not enough", the Mayor said. "We must have true and sin¬ cere friendship".
Mrs. Roosevelt was Introduced by the Mayor as the person do¬ ing more than any other in the United States to create unity at home and appreciation of the (juailtles -of ^ach-'sflgmejit qf the Amerleari people.: THe First: Lady, reltefatlng views she has expressed repeatedly on the sub¬ ject of racial and religious un derstanding, told the American people; "How Illogical we will be If we don't watch our own hearts", after concerning our¬ selves so heroically with the elimination of oppression abi'oad. Jewish Losses Are Heaviest In War Says Mrs. Roosevelt
NEW YORK (WNS)—Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt, wife of the President, declared In a syndi¬ cated article this week that the "Jews have suffered as has no other group", and that the "per¬ centage killed among them in the past few years far exceeds ithe losses among any of the Uni¬ ted Nations in the battles which have been fought throughout the war".
Declaring that she did" not know "what we can do to save the Jews", Mrs. Roosevelt added: "Many of them, for genera¬ tions, considered Germany, Po¬ land,'Rumania and France then- country and permanent home. This same thing might happen lo any other group, it enough people ganged up against it and decided on persecution. It seem.s to me that It is part of common sense for the world as a whole lo protest in lis own interest against wholesale persecution, because none of us by ourselves would be strong enough to stand against a big enough group which decided to treat us in the same way".
CHICAGO (JPS) — Colonel Robert R. McCormack's Chicago Tribune, Joining the campaign to discredit "Under Cover", a book purporting to expose fas¬ cist activities In the United Sta¬ tes, charges that the book was written by "an Anti-Semite". The Tribune, which itself has been accused on many occasions of antl-Jewlsh and pro-Axis lean¬ ings, alleges that Arthur Der- ounian, a "foreign-born hack writer of many aliases", "hid be¬ hind the pseudonyip of John Ray Carlson In attempting to escape the blame while collecting royal ties for the diatribe against his adopted Americans".
"By His own admi.ssion. Der- ounlan was an editor of the Christian Defender, a violent anti-Semitic publication, and has written anti-Jewish articles in which he referred to the 'Yddish Spittle press' and to Mew stoog¬ es'," the Tribune charges. It alleges that he vvas as.sociated with "the Christian Mohillzers, headed by Joseph McWUIiams, where he continued.-his anti- Jewish activities, particularly smearing the Jewish press.
"Derounlan endeavored to ex¬ cuse his antl-Jewlsh aclivities by saying that he joined both the Christian FVont and the Chris¬ tian Moblllzers to spy pn their meml)ershlpJ.V:tUe_aSfete eBserta; ;, li' wjis" '^iHifeU miti uy- 'bthei' sources here that In the teJtt of the book the author had devoted considerable space to explaining his allegedly anti-Semitic activi¬ ties. With reference to the Christian Defender, he had writ¬ ten: "I had no qualms about pub¬ lishing the hate sheet because It circulated only among those who already were confirmed fanatics. The first three copies of every issue went to the pro-democratic group with which 1 was assoc¬ iated. Subsequently, I filed a complete .set with the Depart¬ ment of Justice". Mr. Deroun¬ lan, it is reported, has declared that both the FBI and the New York Police Department knew his real name and wei'e aware of his activities In posing as a Nazi to expose subversive activl- ties.
