CINCINNATI (JPS)—The rab¬ binical members of the Ameri¬ can Council for Judaism, hav¬ ing taken a. poll among them-' selves following nation-wide criticism of their anti-Ztonlst activities, have "overwhelming¬ ly" declared themselves "agaipst liquidation of the organization".
This statement was made by Rabbl Louis Wolsey of Phila¬ delphia In a letter to Rabbi James G. Heller, President of the Central Conference of American Rabbis, who had suggested at a meeting In Baltimore between Zionist rabbis and their antl- Zlonlst colleagues that the Coun¬ cil should be abandoned In re¬ turn for the adoption ot a "neu¬ trality" clause by the C. C. A, R.
That war on Zlonisrri by the ant l-Zlonlst rabbis will be waged In accordance with the original program adopted at a series of secret conferences in Philadelphia was revealed by Rabbl Heller In a communication addressed to the members of the Conference. Describing a meet¬ ing held in Baltimore to try to achieve unity,.Rabbl Heller said he had told the conferees;
"1. Whether the American Council for Judaism Intended It or not, its continued existence and activity would jeopardize all Reform Jewish organizations, would tend to create schisms within them. I tried to describe the probable course of events, the precise ways in which such (Continued on Page 8)

AMERICAN JEWISH COMMITTEE PLATFORM ON PALESTINE GALLED "RETROGRESSION"
AMERICAN RED GROSS REPORTS MANY JEWISH DONORS TO BLOOD PLASMA COllECTIONS
NEW YORK (JPS)—Instead of being a "compromise", as it was hailed by the American Jew¬ ish Committee, the statement on Palestine adopted by that body at its recent annual meeting "represents a retrogression from previous positions", it was as¬ serted by the American Emer¬ gency Committee for Zionist Af¬ fairs, In the first official com¬ ment by the Zionists to emphas¬ ize that the docm-nent offers "no acceptable compromise on the essential demands of Zionism".
The Statement of the Emer¬ gency Committee served to stress the growing rift between Zionists and anti-Zionists, even though Joseph Proskauer, on be¬ ing elected president of the American Jewish Commiitee, a.s- serted that the Sommittee's view were an effort to bridge the dif¬ ferences between tho two groups. It was r\-ealccl by the Emergency Committee that for fifteen month.s negotiations had been carried on with the American Jewish Committee in an effort to arrive at a genuine compromi.se It is implied Ihat further discus¬ sions with the Commiitee would lead, nowhere. The statement Iiointed out "on .March 1, lllltl, the American Jewi.sh fommittoc Joined in a memorandum sul)-' mittcd to President Wil.son ask¬ ing that the Peace Conference recognize 'the aspirations and historic claims of the .Jewish people in regard to Palestine". The statement said, further, in part;
"Tlie present statement of the Committee makes no men- lion of these aspirations ami his¬ toric claims. It does'nut allude

in the National Home, nor does it take cognlzande of the existence of the Jewish, Agfency for Pal¬ estine officially recognized In the Mandate for Palestine.
"Tile statement ot, the Ameri¬ can Jewish -Committee cannot serve as the basis for united ac¬ tion with regard to Palestine, be¬ cause it is contradictory to our noncommittal on the program in the Extraordinary Conference ot all Zionist organizations in America held at tho Biltmore Hotel in April of liM2, which was thereafter endorsed by prac¬ tically all groups within the World Zionist Organization.'
"The Zionist program asked that immigration to Palestine be under Jewish . control that a maximum number of Jews may he enabled to settle In Palestine in as short a time as possible. .The Statement ot the Committee is limited lo a. demand for 'safe¬ guarding the Jewish settlement in lbL\Jcwi.sh immigration into Palestine' under an international truslecship. The Zionist posi¬ tion is liased on the conviction that Palestine provides the basic .solminn uf the problem of Jew¬ ish huniolcssne.ss. The State¬ ment uf the Cummlttee speclfl- call.v rejects this conclusion. Nor does the slatement of the Com- mitteu give due consideration to tiie lerriiile plight ot the Jews uf Fcurope atler a decade ot Nazi persecution nor tu the im¬ plications ot Jewish creative work in Palestine in the jiast twenly-five years which now re- (|uirc that the foundations of the Jewish Commonwealth be paiitically secured".
