Full Text	B-38-1 Scipio 7th mo 27th 1813 Friend Rotch I have thought much of late of your settlement and whether it would not be an advantagious place for a young man like myself to acquire a property with industry and economy in a few years, without prudence and economy a large estate is soon got through with and a comfortable sufficiently is never obtain'd. I am a Painter and Chairmaker by Trade I came from Massachusetts state directly from New Bedford about two years, ago my Father has been imployed by thy brother Wm Rotch a great deal one way and another which incou -raged me to apply to thee hopeing thee will give me thy opinion by a letter place to direct it to Wm A. Cromwell Scipio Sumora post office as I shall be sure of giting it. I trust thy goodness wil excuse a young stranger for troubleing thee so much I have business enough here but there is a great many mechaniks and my business would be more profitable if I had more apprentices
