Respected Friend
Thomas Rotch
There are a number of families mostly
of the Society of Friends who have it in contemplation
to move into the country early next spring unless peace
should again be restored so that they can pursue their
ususal pursuits - John L Bowne, Benjamin Collins and
myself are more firmly fixed in our minds about move
-ing than any others, but I think it probable that in
the spring we should be able to increase the number
to 8 or 10 families - thee will confer a favor by informg
me at what price good land could be purchased
at in thy neighborhood - whether there is any which
belongs to the Government that would answer and
on what terms ~ some of us would bring money enough
to purchase farms others would want a credit for part.
any general information which hee may feel pleased
to communicate reltive to the country and agriculture
would be gratefully recieved.
