North Carolina 12th mo 19th 1804
I could feel it in my heart to scold you a little
my dearly beloveds for so long neglecting me, were I willing
to believe you have not written - but I am not - and
therefore mean to suppose that your letters have
taken a wrong road & are perhaps pursuing me over
the country to no purpose - however be this as it
may, I feel disposed this evening to converse a little
with you,wh I should very often do, was not my leisure
for this employ much limited, and I have consequently
taken refuge in the hope that you are furnished
with frequent intelligence of us thro' the medium
of Bedford - I wrote you last from Hudson
by post, but know not whether you have ever received
it . - After attending Baltimore Y Meeting we proceeded to
that of No Carolina accompanied by our kind E. Carrigues
& have since been transferred to the care of Edward
Stabler of Alexandria who is a very agreeable companion
in the station of an Elder, about 35 years of Age- while
attending the Y Meeting & in that neighborhood we lodged
several nights at the house of our valuable humble-
minded frd Chalkley Albertson who often spoke of
you with tender affection and desired much love
when I wrote, as did dear Josiah White - the latter
is in very poor health & tho' able to be out, I fear
will not much longer continue in this sphere of action.
