I often reflect with much pleasure my
belov d Aunt on the two days recently pass d at your delightful
residence; & know not when I have enjoy d a visit more; not
withstanding the slight indisposition that attended; I only regret
ted that time forbad our longer enjoying the society of relatives,
from whom we are much separated, & in a retreat so rural
& retir d, as seems calculated to cherish the better feelings which
afford most satisfaction, & which influence us most when de-
-tach d from the bustle of the more busy scenes of life.
Contract to our expectation at parting with you we
gave up our propos d jaunt to Boston, in consequence of

would be forfeited The ride from Hartford to Stafford
we found extremely unpleasant on account of the dust &
heat, & were induc d to spend one day at the latter place
in hopes of a change, as my father mention d several times
during our ride, that had he had an idea how disagreeable
it would have been , he should not have left Hartford on
