Dear Son, Yours of 22nd came in due course time I was all last week at Loudenville & laid the whole of into lot 115 of the size of Kendal lots the balance of the qt to be sold by the acre & one in size from 3/4 to [illegible] & one 36 in No. I have taken Mr Steward into partnership in the business which by the by is not to be named as it all goes under my name. I am to recieve one of the first sales $3200 & interest & after paying expenses we divide the gross or loss. Tuesday July 1st we have a sale at auction of every other block of the no lots 57 in all. I give Mr Stewart a great chance but I found it necessary if I went into the town operation it would require some one interested to have it in charge. I shall have much less perplexity & anxiety about it & the same will be attended to without delay which is the life of town trade. two weeks ago Mr Baily came early to our house he had had his smoke house broken upon & a quantity of meat taken out & from some circumstances suspicion rested on basket maker Coburn which lead to an investigation & there was found in Coburns possession 140 yd of cloth that was taken out of Skinners factory a year ago last Oct together with a large amount carpenters tools taken from Esq Earls mill, Mr Hines shop S Hathaways & half a doz other places. as Mr Baily left Coburn to consult with me Coburn decamped & has not been heard
