Cliffts 10th mo 10th 1797
My dear Mother,
More time has Elaps'd since I wrote the last than I either expected, or intended- but being variously occupied I trusted to the pens of our valued late visitors for the necesssary information respecting us & such accounts of the afflicting dispensation of sickness in Philadelphia as we received, while favour'd with the company of our beloved Uncle, M Routh & cousin Lydia. their Society seem'd tryly strengthening to us, & we all attended the Yearly Meeting together, I believe to Mutual satisfaction tho' a very Solemn, I think I may safely say, it was an uncommon favour'd time. I believe most of the little Remnant gather'd, were feelingly sensible of Divine Support, & preservation mercifully Vouchsafed during the several sittings thereof, at the beginning the Spirit of Supplication was poured forth upon some of the annointed Ministers, & at the Conclusion, dear Charity Cook, Martha Routh & a friend belonging to our Yearly Meeting succeeded each other in Solemn Prayer, & thanksgiving to the Father of all our sure Mercies, for his continued gracious Providence & renewed favours vouchsafed in the needful time we came home every night during the Meeting, & our dear friends came with us all but two nights when they staid in Town on account of the Select Meeting's being held at Eight o Clock in the morning. the day after the yearly Meeting being ye seventh of the week, we
