Beloved Friend
EW Haeg
Thous knowest that when obstructions and
difficulties lays in our way it is sometimes very much and of our
power to remove them as we would and I do not know of a better way
when this is the case than to be as patient as may be for the way to open
as desirable as it would be to have an addition of friends to our
little number yet if we force the way beyond that which appears
right we have little reason to expect solid satisfaction - since
thou was here I have reflected much upon the mechanical kno
wledge and experience necessary in such an establishment as
mine and have feared that instead of doing thee a kindness by in
trusting the Charge to thee I might do thee a material injury
and upon mature consideration I think thou will unite with me
in believing that I am likely to be correct in judgement of
this as one that has had no experience in such an establishment
if thou should think best to come to this place the House thou examined
rent
thou can have at the price of only fifty Dollars ^ with the reserve of
[torn off] front room for my Office - and I will furnish thee with
weaving to be done at the house thou may live in for which if done to my satisfaction
thou shall receive the
salary of Three hundred Dollars principly in produce taken in
at the Factory and in Cloths and as time and events are uncertain I could
if at any time there should not be weaving, I would find some other employ
to fill up the time please to write to me by next mail thy decision as I want to
make my calculations accordingly
not bind myself for more than the year to come ^^ with afffectionate regard
[torn off] thy self Wife & Children in which my C unites I am thy friend
