Respected Friend
Thomas Rotch
I have received thine of 26th and also the 5 cask of sperm foots contining 25 Gallons pr Invoice and duly notice thy Motion for a higher price but think it impropert to presume it from the indifferent Coldness that has lately taken place here among the purchasers their being but two that has bought all the foots that I have made & all that I have had from you and while they ware & great of each other I made out to sell but as soon as they come to communicate to some other works that they had bought foots thay imbaress them by telling the danger there was in being deceaved eaven when their was no intention by the Seller for their general cry is thay are daingerous things to dable with their profits is so uncertain so that thay both applyed to be from having any more since my last letter, but one of them had gorn so far that I held him to his engagement that was he would take them if I would right for them which was he cause of my incouragement in my last letter. the foots being come I have delivered them agreable to my contract their being 1/2 gallon over by gage of thy invoice and one cash that sacked 3/4 Quarts of being full. I shall [illegible] little at thy invoice with adding that two of the casks come to hand in such order that the [illegible] bill on them was three or 4 one of them the bilg hoops was all gone. I have here inclosed the account of sails of this five casks & sent the ballence or net proveeds by Silas Parker in the delight by & with the advice of thy Brother (L B) and Remain thy Friend, Jethro Starbuck Junr
