I received thy letter by the hand of J. Layd dated last of 8th mo containing a request which I intended answering long before this time, but understanding the works were not quite ready for business I am willing to hope the delay will not retard the work from progressing and to furnish thee with my Ideas and knowledge as far as I am able in the arrangements for a partnership of this kind, is, for thee to compleat the buildings and what is necessary in them for business and then, Wintirs or whoom he may be taht takes the shop as a partner with thee, ought to put his labour against the expence of buildings and what ever other hands is employ'd in carrying on the trade either Jouneymen or apprentices, for you to be at equal expences as also glazing, clay wood etc, and to strike an equal dividend of the profits arising from the partnership. This being I believe a customary way of working as far as relates to the pottery; it has been common as far as my knowledge extneds to furnish the persons who takes shops in the way above mentioned with a dwelling house when they have familys, my brother has lately taken a shop in Zanesville in parnership
