i have bought of S Cartwright about 20 C Bread shall have 15 baked here & wish thee to buy of Russell 15 more to complete 50C. I shall not make out to send the ship round Cape Horn- Brock does not chuse to go he thinks the ship too small for the distance.
I can procure Casks enough here and as Brock takes 1/4 with thy approbation, I would let Gh have another as I conceive the prospect to be on a whale Voyage, to be of gain only the Vessels
quarter.
I should have liked to have had Howlands bks and I am surprised he hesitates as he makes a profit upon them. the bls will retain their value & perhaps I may want them, but let them know he has no wood hoopd Casks in Delano, or Russells hands, as his memo to me said. They are Casks in 4 hoops for Iron, for wch if he will take 4/ as they are I'll buy them this is the price they gave, and as they did not have them hoopd wch Job Russell was to have, they gave 3d more than any person asks for them. Pelig told me 2d but I supposed after finding they gain 4/3, he would thten terminate in letter to the 3d from me to wch was only given by way of compromise to quiet him & is so much more than thier value.
