Dear Sarah
I have hold myself thy Debtor ever since the
receipt of thy affectionate Salutation of the 11th Mo last,
and
should have made thee some returns before this, but a variety
of circumstances have concurr d to prevent- among which
bodily Indisposition has frequently plead an excuse yet as
the Spring draws nigh. I feel something like a fresh budding
both in bodily Strength, and in christian desire for thy welfare
dear Child, in the best sense of the Word; that thou mayst
so hold fast that which thou hast received ; and by a timely
& wise Improvement thereof, grow from Strength to
strength until(in the appointed Season) in the perfection
of Strength thou mayst stand unrebuked before the Lord
in his holy Hill of Zion I cannot let go my hold of thee
& thy Cotemporary, that dear Girl M Re- O that you were
willing,& unreservedly dedicated, in this the day of the Lord s
power! Work women will he make you(if the fault
is not yours) who will n4ither have Cause for Shame or
repentance- but contrariwise he would strengthen you
to declare by(more than) Example, that All the Ways of
that
his Wisdom are Ways of Pleasantness, &^her Paths are Peace !
