My Dear Wife
I embrace another oppertunity
of in forming you that I am now quite
well the weather is now getting a little cooler
espetialy the nights which makes it much more
pleasant it is very healthy at this Bar at
this time although we hear of some sickness
at other places I was up to Beals Bar
last week and it was quite sickly
at that place there had been some
Deaths from Cholera Morbus it was thought
to proceed from undulging to excess in eating
melons which is brought to the mines in
great abundance all of our friends were
well I saw P J Norton Grove Galiger
Syrus Thompson & Jagus Hulbund they were
all well J M Smith is mining about
a mile above this place he was here
yesterday for some Bread he is in first rate
health and in fine spirits he is doing well
at mining they expect to to turn the North fork
in the race on Monday next and as
the River is very low they expect to
get it thouroughly drained and some of
the Companies are expecting some big
strikes no doubt some will do well
while others will be disapointed
