Description	These two stereographs of the Ohio State Fair held in Zanesville, Ohio were taken September 21, 1859. Photographer J. Tresize was commissioned by the fair's Fine Arts Committee to document the fair. The images include a view of the farm implements barn and a view of the grandstand. Each stereograph measures 3.25" by 6.75" (8.26 by 17.15 cm). The stereoscope was a popular form of entertainment in the late nineteenth century. Stereographs, also called stereoviews, contain side-by-side images captured simultaneously from two slightly different perspectives. Looking at the card through a stereoscope, a viewer sees a single three-dimensional image.
