Description	Civil War soldier William B. Depoy wrote this letter to his aunt Sara Emily Ross in Good Hope, Ohio while stationed at Fort Sanders near Knoxville, Tennessee. He writes that he hopes to see his friends in the "old Buckeye State before six months more is past." Sara Ross' husband Anthony W. Ross also served in the Civil War. The letter is four pages long and measures 5" x 8" (12.7 x 20.32 cm).

Full Text	[corresponds to page 1 of Ross Civil War letter dated 1865 Jan 28] Fort Saunders Jan. 28 65 Dear Aunt As I am at leisure for the rest of this day having come off of guard this morning so I concluded to drop you a few lines in return for yours which I recieved yesterday and which I read with pleasure and am glad to say it found me well and glad to hear that it left you well.
