Description	Ashland University, originally Ashland College, was founded in 1878 by members of the Brethren Church. Members of the Dallas Literary Society, a popular extracurricular group, wrote essays and practiced debating and public speaking. The society published the Dallas Crusader and presented occasional "entertainments" for the public. The March 26, 1880 issue of the publication is fourteen pages long and handwritten. It measures approximately 4.2 by 5.6 inches (10.6 by 14.1 cm). A printed program from the same date is four pages which measure 3.6 by 4.95 inches (9.1 by 12.57 cm).
