Dayton June 30th 1857
Dear Father & Mother
I arrived safe in Dayton
last Saturday. We have made preparation to
start to New York tomorrow morning 7 Oclock.
We expect to go by Pitsburg & Philadelphia.
The ship is to sail from New York on the
5th of July. My health is good.
I scarcely realize that I am going so far
away and through such new scenes.
I shall have your prayers I hope around
the family altar. I do not wish to
be forgotten by Parents brothers and sister
but hope that you will give me over into
the hand of God for safe keeping and
neither be uneasy about me nor repine
at my absence. This is a Christian pos-
sibility.
I called at Swayneys hotel and
John Vancleves room but found
neither of them although I called at John's
twice.
Adieu! Father and Mother
