Description	This book celebrates the centennial year of the "Famous Preble County Fair" in 1950. It contains a premium list, roster of officers, and the constitution of the county agricultural society. Dozens of advertisements from area merchants are included. The fair book is 135 pages long and measures 6" x 8.25" (15.24 x 20.96 cm). Sixty-seven pages are included here. Preble County is one of the richest agricultural areas in Ohio. The county agricultural society formed in 1850 and hosted its first fair on the grounds of the county courthouse. In 1855, the society purchased land on which to hold the fair and laid out a track for horse races, despite protests from some members of the community. In 1866, the fair moved to its permanent location, where new buildings were constructed and a larger racetrack created. Attendance and premiums grew, and the fair became one of the most popular in the state.
