Description	This newspaper clipping from the April 7, 1943 edition of the Bee Gee News announces "University Received Navy Approval; 400 Sailors to Arrive Here July 1." Due to the arrival of the military trainees, the article explains, students in Kohls and Williams Hall will be relocated to Shatzel Hall, the only remaining dormitory for non-military students. During World War II (1941-1945) college campuses were used to provide training for Navy and Marine personnel. Bowling Green State University used its new airport to train pilots for action; women were also trained in civilian training programs. This helped to support the college during the war years, when enrollment otherwise would have dropped. The program paved the way for the veterans taking advantage of the G.I. Bill after the war and for the R.O.T.C. (Army Reserve Officer Training Corps) programs following the war.
