We illustrate two machines manufactured by The Benoist Aeroplane Co., of St. Louis, Mo., which is headed by Mr. Tom W. Benoist, one of the oldest and best known aeronautical engineers in the world.
Each machine is equipped with two 6-X, 100 H. P. motors which are supplied with air starters and individual propellers.
Both outfits are making regular flights carrying seven pass¬ engers and no trouble whatever is experienced in leaving the water with a useful load of 1300 pounds within 300 feet from a standing start.
SPEED—In water, 40 miles per hour.
In air, minimum 40 miles per hour, maximum 76 miles per hour.
CLIMBING—500 feet per minute.
