Description	This book, titled Spring Grove Cemetery: its History and Improvements: with Observations on Ancient and Modern Places of Sepulture, was published by the Spring Grove Cemetery Association in 1869. It contains a list of proprietors with lot numbers. Mounted in the book are twenty-nine original photographs of the cemetery, which include general landscape scenes and images of specific monuments. The book is 199 pages long and measures 7.5" x 10.75" (19.05 x 26.67 cm). Sixty-five pages are included here. Spring Grove Cemetery was established in Cincinnati in 1845 by Dr. Daniel Drake and designer Howard Daniels. The 733-acre cemetery is the largest nonprofit private cemetery in the United States and is the final resting place of many famous Ohioans, including forty Civil War Union Generals, the Longworth family, Salmon P. Chase (former Ohio governor and President Lincoln's secretary of state), and Judge Jacob Burnet (author of Ohio's first Constitution). The landscape in the cemetery features Gothic architecture, a Civil War memorial, twelve ponds, and an impressive overlook.
