Description	This three-page letter from Robert E. Matson, vice-president for student affairs at Kent State University, notifies members of Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) that the group is suspended from the campus. It measures 8.5" x 11" (21.59 x 27.94 cm). Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), a militant anti-war group that existed during the Vietnam conflict, was active on many college campuses, including Kent State. In 1969, the university suspended the organization after a protest turned violent and several police and students were injured. Although suspended, many S.D.S. members continued activities on campus that may have contributed to the tragedy of May 4, 1970.
