Description	These letters between traveling salesman Wilbert Harp and his wife Dora document his experiences on the road, the means of transportation he used (streetcar, horse, and train), the hotels in which he stayed, and the people he encountered along the way. Her letters detail domestic events and the drudgery of housework, financial affairs, and personal feelings about being separated for long periods of time. Fifteen letters are included here, measuring approximately 8.5" x 11" (21.59 x 27.94 cm) or smaller. The letters are 2-3 pages each, and total 47 pages. Wilbert (Bert) E. Harp (1876-1914) was born in New York. He spent the majority of his life in Ohio, primarily in Cleveland and Sandusky. In early 1900 Harp married Dora Spangler. They had five children (four daughters and one son). Harp was a traveling fence salesman/installer and his business took him to all parts of Ohio, into Michigan, Indiana, and as far west as Chicago and St. Louis. Harp worked as an independent dealer with two fence businesses.
