brief
campaign
speech
on
May
18
,
1912
. He
lost
his
bid
for
re-election
to
Democrat
Woodrow
Wilson
. The
photographs

Edward
Bronson
(1873-1965)
was a
three-term
mayor
of
Defiance
,
managed
the
local
opera
house
, and was
involved
in
numerous
civic
associations
. In
addition
, he was an
amateur
photographer
who
recorded
daily
life
in
Defiance
. The
Edward
Bronson
Photograph
Collection
consists
of
798
photographic
prints
created
by
Bronson
between
1906
and
1949
. The
collection
is
housed
at the
Defiance
Public
Library
.
Copy
prints
are
available
at the
Center
for
Archival
Collections
,
Bowling
Green
State
University
.
Taft
(1857-1930)
, the
twenty-seventh
president
of the
United
States
,
accepted
his
party's
nomination
for the
presidency
from the
front
lawn
of his
half-brother's
home
,
now
the
Taft
Museum
of
Art
.
Prior
to that
time
,
Taft
was a
lawyer
in his
native
Cincinnati
and in
1904
had been
appointed
secretary
of
war
by
President
Theodore
Roosevelt
.
Following
his
presidency
,
Taft
become
chief
justice
of the
Supreme
Court
of the
United
States
, the
only
president
to
achieve
this
distinction
.
