Description	Before the age of mass media, salesmen traveled door to door demonstrating their wares and leaving product information in households. Manufacturers offered bonuses and incentives to consumers who purchased their products, often in the form of trade cards included with the product or left by salesmen. These colorful, printed trade cards were created by the Woolson Spice Company of Toledo, Ohio. The company created cards to commemorate holidays, seasons, and significant events. The advertising on the back of the cards includes the text, "To secure a picture card like this you have only to Buy a Package of Lion Coffee." This selection of 14 cards is part of a larger collection consisting of 87 cards. Most of the cards measure 5" x 7" (12.5 x 15 cm).
