Description	Following announcements that the Youngstown steel mills would shut down, the United Steelworkers Association Local 1462, Brier Hill Works of Youngstown Sheet and Tube, fought to keep them open. These four 8.5" by 11" (21.6 by 27.9 cm) items document a March 17, 1979 rally to save steel jobs. The rally took place on Federal Plaza in downtown Youngstown. It was one of many community activities to raise awareness and prevent closings. The first item is a flier advertising the rally and asking for volunteers. The second item is an agenda for the rally. Speakers included Gerald Dickey, recording secretary for the Local 1462; Congressman Lyle Williams; State Senator Harry Meshel; William Sferra, president of the Local 1418; and Ed Mann, president of the Local 1462. The third item is a typed version of the song Back to Work in Youngstown, words and music by Tom Hunter. The final item is a typed copy of the lyrics to Solidarity Forever (to the tune of Battle Hymn of the Republic).
