Portsmouth April 9. 1842
My Dear Brothers & Sisters
Thirteen weeks from
now; & if all things move according to [caret] present [written above line] arrangement
I Shall be starting for home. O/ I do [underlined] hope there will
be nothing to prevent. It is now three weeks Since I
closed my School- & two weeks yet before I re-
commence again. Mr. Williams expects to commence
Monday the 25 th. of April- & to have a term of eleven
weeks then a vacation; wh. is the time I intend to
go home- but "times are so hard"- that people groan
themselves almost to death; & very possible Mr. W.
may come up "minus" in his School on that account.
However there can be nothing like trying. I am
Staying at Mr. Moss. good quarters- & shall stay until
two or three days before commencing School- then I
am going to board at Mr. Doles- a brother of
Greenleaf Doles. Greenleaf is dead- & his wife
"Salina Titcomb" is crazy; become so after her hus=
bands death- & the children are at the Uncles- where
I am to board. Now I don't remember the Said
Greenleaf- nor what he was at our house for-
only the name, associated with I cant tell what
an indefinite something. Albert Howly wrote to
me last week-I was glad enough to hear
from him- hope to see him before he goes
