Description	This 101-page book about Cincinnati was written by Benjamin Drake and Edward Mansfield, both lawyers. Published by Morgan, Lodge and Fisher of Cincinnati in 1827, it describes the city, its government, institutions, industries, and attractions. The volume measures approximately 4.5 by 7.2 inches (11.43 by 18.29 cm). Cincinnati, the county seat of Hamilton County, is located on the Ohio River opposite Newport and Covington, Kentucky. Founded in 1788, the city was originally called Losantiville. In 1790, Arthur St. Clair, governor of the Northwest Territory, renamed it in honor of the Society of Cincinnati, a group composed of men who were officers in the Revolutionary War. Cincinnati was home to the government of the Northwest Territory until 1800. In the nineteenth century, Cincinnati became an important center of business and industry. It also attracted a large number of immigrants, principally from Germany. The city's nickname was bestowed by poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882), who in a poem called "Catawba Wine" called Cincinnati the "Queen City of the West."
