Description	This is a 1904 model Elmore car. It measures approximately 8' x 5' x 6' (2.44 x 1.52 x 1.83 m). The first Elmore car was manufactured in 1900. Harmon Becker and his sons James and Bert began the Elmore Manufacturing Company in 1892. The Elmore Roadster bicycle debuted in 1893 and was a success. The Elmore Manufacturing Company grew to fifty employees. The March 9, 1894 issue of the Elmore Independent reported that the factory "was running full blast and have more orders than they can fill in the next two months." In 1894, the Elmore Manufacturing Company moved to nearby Clyde, Ohio, where they were offered a larger brick building, machinery and extensive grounds. By 1899, interest in bicycles waned among the American public, and the company began manufacturing automobiles. The Elmore Manufacturing Company was sold to General Motors in 1909, who ceased manufacturing the Elmore car in 1912. Images courtesy of Dan Laity.
