Description	Nobel Prize winner Dr. F. Sherwood Rowland appeared on the cover of Ohio Wesleyan Magazine in the summer of 1996 after he visited Ohio Wesleyan University. The cover and six-page article of the magazine are included here and measure 8.5" x 11" (21.59 x 27.94 cm). Rowland, an Ohio Wesleyan University graduate of 1948, was awarded the prize as "co-discoverer of the process by which chlorofluorocarbon gases (CFCs) deplete the ozone layer of the stratosphere." Rowland grew up in Delaware, Ohio, son of Dr. Sidney Rowland, Delaware mayor and Ohio Wesleyan mathematics professor. After teaching at Princeton University and the University of Kansas, F. Sherwood Rowland founded the chemistry department at University of California- Irvine in 1964. In 1981 OWU awarded him the Distinguished Achievement Citation for his discoveries.
