Description	These three photographs show homes that were decorated for the 1908 Greene County Homecoming celebration. The first shows the home of Dr. A. C. Messenger on 2nd and Detroit streets. Messenger was a committee member of the Homecoming Association. The second photograph shows John W. Prugh's home on North Galloway. Prugh was also a committee member of the Homecoming Association. The final photograph shows Judge Marcus Shoup's home on the corner of Collier and East Main streets. The first photograph measures 6.5" x 4.75" (16.51 x 12.07 cm) and the second and third measure 9.25" x 7.5" (23.50 x 19.05 cm). In 1906 it was noted that there were a number of former citizens Of Xenia, Ohio, who had achieved success. The 1908 Greene County Homecoming event was suggested by Russell F. Greiner, then living in Kansas City, Missouri, in a conversation with J. F. Orr, then president of the Commercial Club. The Commercial Club appointed a committee of fifty to plan the event, chaired by postmaster Orr. The homecoming was held in Xenia from August 30 to September 2, 1908. Sunday, August 30th was Church Day, August 31st was Reception Day, September 1st was Military Day and September 2nd was Gala-Historic Day, which included a parade. The festivities concluded with a grand ball.
