Description	Interior designer Grace Kelton took these notes while she was working on a White House restoration project in 1961. She was a founding member of the Association of Interior Decorators and a member of the association's committee to assist with the restoration. First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy asked the nation for donations of historic furniture and artifacts. The committee's contribution to the restoration effort was wallpaper for the Diplomatic Reception Room. The paper was hand-screened in France in 1834 and depicts "exotic" American vistas. Kelton's notes are two pages and measure 7" x 8.5" (17.78 x 21.59 cm). Grace Bird Kelton (1881-1975) was born in Columbus, Ohio. She studied art at the Columbus Art School (now Columbus College of Art and Design) and New York's Pratt Art Institute. She then started the metal craft and jewelry departments at the Columbus Art School. In 1914 she returned to New York to attend the Parsons Design School's first interior decorating classes. Kelton established a partnership with Mary B. Miller, forming the Miller-Kelton Interior Decorating Studio in Columbus. Kelton was one of the founding members of the Association of Interior Decorators and served two terms as the president of the Ohio chapter. She was also on numerous boards to save historic homes in Ohio including the Kelley mansion and the Sullivant home. She was instrumental in saving the Snowden-Gray home (now the headquarters for Kappa Kappa Gamma). Upon her death in 1975, Grace Kelton left her house to the Columbus Foundation with the stipulation that they find an organization within six months of her death to restore the house and turn it into an educational facility or museum. In 1978, the Junior League of Columbus opened the Kelton House Museum and Garden to the public.
