Description	This collection of eighteen photographs, measuring approximately 5.5 by 9.5 inches (14 x 24 cm),contains views of the 1884 flood at Cincinnati, Ohio; Covington and Newport, Kentucky; and Aurora, Indiana. Sold as souvenirs, they show flooded streets and buildings--such as the interior of Grand Central Passenger Station--and residents moving through the area in rowboats. Heavy snows in December 1883 and January 1884, followed by warm weather and heavy rain in early February 1884 caused the Ohio River to rise to a record-high 71.1 feet at Cincinnati. Thousands of homes and businesses were covered by water and ten people died as a result of the flood.
