Delaware 7th Mo 20th 1821
Esteemed friend,
Thomas Rotch. Thy favour of the 4th Inst is before
me. Finding it necessary on my own account to send
to Steubenville to avail my self of the benefit of the
A.A. of Congress by advertising my lost Certificate
9 times in the Steubenville paper previous to the 30th
of 9th month in order to make application for a
new one to enable me to apply the payment made
on it to the payment of the Fraction(or a part of it
above mudbrook on Tuskaraheray. I have made
a regular assignment for the for the Quarter Sec
tion thou hast the Certificate for which was pur
chased in both our names asknowledged it before
a magistrate and caused the County seal to be affix
to it whereby The Transfer of my Title to Thee is com
plete, and for fear I should be disappointed in com-
ing to see thee in season I have sent the Transfer
by my son to be delivered with my own Papers
To David Hoge, Register of the Land Office at Steuben
ville on in case of his absence, to W.R.Dickenson
or John England mention to them that I should
inform Thee of it. I am persuaded that salt
may be obtained on it, independent of which the

I this day since finishing this letter,recd a letter from B.W.Ladd dated the 9th inst in which he says
our daughter sarah has been somewhat unwell and is desirous of returning home. I expect she will
come with Joseph. He also says "Some of William Foster's baggage has arrived at Wheeling but we
have heard nothing more of his approach. His prospect we understand is to visit this Yearly meeting
and proceed
