Description	Reverend Hiram Burger delivered this sermon, titled "Our Country" in Prairie Depot, Ohio (now Wayne) in 1917 during World War I. Burger declares that God is on the side of the United States in the war, but adds, "we need the help of God today to bring us the victory, and we need the help of God to direct us in the era of peace and development and world-wide influence upon which we shall soon enter." The sermon is 24 pages long and measures 9" x 6" (23 cm x 15 cm). Hiram Crowl Burger (1865-1918) was born near Lisbon, Columbiana County, Ohio and graduated from Mt. Union College and Boston University. For several years he taught Greek and chemistry in the Missouri Wesleyan Institute in Cameron, Missouri. On October 31, 1900 he married Nellie A. Burns at Rossford, Ohio. Burger ministered to Methodist congregations in several communities in Wood County and northwest Ohio, including Bradford, Kenton Circuit, Ansonia, Hardin, Port Jefferson, Pemberville, McClure, Liberty Center, Sylvania, Cygnet and Prairie Depot (now Wayne).
