The World War I in Ohio Digital Collection includes content from the holdings of the Ohio History Connection and the North Canton Heritage Society. Materials in the collection capture the overarching narrative of WWI--from ordinary stories to extraordinary ones, and from the home front to the battlefront. Diverse in both format and content, the items in this collection represent a variety of Ohio voices from before, during and immediately after the war.
This online resource is part of a larger effort to construct a statewide digital collection of World War I materials from both the Ohio History Connection and other cultural heritage institutions around the state, designed to align with the centennial of U.S. involvement in the Great War. With guidance from an advisory board composed of historians and educators, materials have been identified for present and future digitization to record and share Ohio's many stories from the time. Continue checking back as new materials are added!
In conjunction with this effort, a union bibliography has been created which includes information about additional primary and secondary WWI collections around Ohio. This resource is meant to serve as an access point for researchers of all levels and make these materials more discoverable to a wider audience. To view and search the union bibliography, please visit http://www.ohiohistoryhost.org/wwibib/.
Are you from an institution that would like to have your WWI materials listed on the union bibliography? Please complete our WWI Union Bibliography webform, or reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org for additional information.
This digital collection, union bibiliography and other associated resources were funded in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
