About this collection

The Grand Valley Public Library Collection consists of photographs from various towns within the Grand Valley area in Ashtabula County, OH and parts of northern Trumbull County. Those neighborhoods include Colebrook, Orwell, East Orwell, Windsor, Rome, Hartsgrove, New Lyme, Rock Creek, Greene, Wayne, and Bloomfield. Many of these photos date from the mid-1800s through the early 1900s. The assorted photographs depict the lifestyle and scenery of a bygone era.

Ruetenik Gardens was a large vegetable farm which was in operation from the early 1920s until the mid-1970s. The farm was located in Orwell Township (Ashtabula County) and North Bloomfield Township (Trumbull County), and covered approximately 1,200 acres.
