As members of a consc-vative (Continued on Page 8) Gallup Poll Finds American Opinion Favors Jewisli Palestine • According to the report In the Columbus Citizen of Jan-' uary 8, over three out of every four voters in this country who have followed the discussions about perniittlng Jews to settle in Palestine favqr the idea. Jewish people throughout the country, and Included in the poll, feel even more strongly on the question. Nine out of ten Jews, according to the poll, believe the Jews ought to be permitted to move into Palestine. According to Mr. Gallup's Institute of Public Opinion, 55% of the American people are familiar with tiie ques¬ tion of w>hether Palestine should be opened to the Jews. This opinion is distributed as follows: Those in favor of opening Palestine to the Jews 80% Those against the idea 7% Those in favor of leaving the question up to the Aratjs 1 % Thos? in favor of leaving the question up to Britain 1% Miscellaneous '. 3% , Don't knpw 8% Only a very small percentage (fewer than one in ten) give as their reason for favoring the idea anything that can be constructed as anti-Semitic. Mr, Gallup feels that the; basis for the vote favoring opening Palestine to the Jews is a strong sympathy among Americans for the plight of European Jewry. "War Records Month" By Committee January, 1946, has been nam¬ ed as "War Records Month", It was announced today by AL lan Tarshish, chairman of the War Records Committee ot the Columbus Army and Navy Gen¬ eral Committee. During the next 10 days, a special letter will be sent to every Jewish discharged serviceman in Col¬ umbus asking for hLs cpmplete war record. Special cards Is¬ sued by the National Jewish Welfare Board will be available for this purpose. \Vh6n the information is re¬ ceived, copies of same will ho sent to the National Jewish Welfare Boai'd and also lo the Ohio War Histoiy Commission. These two on;anizationa are compiling in book form, the war records of World War 11, which will be i vailable for gen¬ erations to come.
