I have devoted part of a day to a visit to the Congressional Burial Ground, which is one of tlie objects of interest to strangers m Washington. The disposition to visit cemeteries and other of the dead is universal, and is in itself an internal evidence of our own immnrtnlii or at least of our convictions of a future existence. Push-ma-ta-ha, a Choctaw rhiof. rvhn. died ht Wasington in 1824, has a plain cenotaph, erected by his brother chiefs. The celebrated eccentric Lorenzo Dow is said to have been buried here, but 1 was unaoie to mm any clue to his resting place. Many of trie) stones contain no names, and are probably on family lots. The most elaborate monument is that of the family of Jacob Gideon, beneath which are deposited the remains of his deceased wife, 'To my wife, and below is a large daguerreotype set in the marble.
