' Court Mattkrs. Ia Room No 1, before Judge Green, tbe criminal docket was called yesterday. - In the ease of the State vs. William Gu- lick and Eli M. Lisle, an application ot the attorneys for tbe Commissioners was made that the case be laid over, to allow the defendants time to put In pleas to the Indict ments. On their application they will not be arraigned until next Monday. The attorneys for the State will use every exertion to have a bearing at this time. William Carrol,' case was called op. when tbe plaintiff pleaded not guilty. Judge Rankin appears as his counsel, and Genera Gelger, employed by the Direct ors of the Ublo renitentlarr, assists the Prosecuting Attorney in tbe prosecution. John Miller's case was called. He bad pleaded gnilty to grand larceny, and bad written a note to the Court acknowledging, his guilt, and begging a leuient sentence, but he yesterday changed his plea to one of not guilty. Judge Green issued an order to remove Alonzo P. Sharp, now confined In the county iail, on a charge of grand larceny, to the Pest House. Sharp Is suffering with nall-pox, hence the order of removal. In room No. 2, before Mr. H. C. Noble, the case ot Sandy Eaton vs. John Nicholson is now pending. No. 54 North High street, has not been idle in the mat ter of making every preparation for the holiday season. New and increased facilities have been adopted for handling oysters which are daily received by the car load, and lively times are the standing orders at the old 54. Id addition to facilities for sup plying the trade, Mr. Dickinson has estab lished a reputation for serving tried oysters, which is not enjoyed by any other caterer in the State. Try tbem these holi day times, and see if they are not excel lent. The "northern Lunatic Atyiam. The fifteenth annual report of the Trust ees ot tbe Northern juinaiio Asylum nas been received by Governor Hayes. We gather tbe following from the report : On November 16, 1868, there were 71 males and 87 female patients In the asy lum. There have been admitted during tbe year 150 male and 133 female patients. Discharged, 66 males and 64 lemales. Under treatment, 221 males and 225 females. Remaining iu the asylum on November 15, 1S69, 155 males and 161 females. Daily average, 293 69-100. Ot those discharged, there were 77 fully recovered in intellect, 13 improved, and 7 unimproved. The deaths amounted to 30. Tbe institution is represented by the Trustees as being crowded to Its utmost capacity, which is 300. They recom mend that the building be completed ac cording to tbe original design, which will increase its capacity to 450. The Trustees express the opinion that the farm connected with the Asylum should - be enlarged. On the 15th of October a new feature was adopted at the institution, embracing a course of lectures to tho patients. Four lectures have already been delivered, with excellent results, and tbe course will be continued through the winter. Of the 119 patients received from the Central Asylum of this city, tbe most of them were chronic cases, from which there were only ten recoveries, making the average number of recoveries much less than it would have been otherwise. Tbe Trustees estimate the general ex penses lor the coming year at to,uw. Salaries, repairs, etc, $18,000. Total, $7oC00. Buck let's Serknaders. This fine company made their first appearance to a large and delighted audience at the Opera-bouse lagt night, and succeeded in establishing themselves as favorites. The programme was faithfully carried out from beginning to end. The melange ot the second part was well given, and in several instances carried the house by storm. In the bur- lesque opera in part third the fine company appeared to very good advantage, and won unmeasured meeds of praise. To-night, their last night, the grand bur lesque of La Somnambula" will be presented, and their patrons may expect the richest treat of tbe season. - - -". Harrison was elected Secretary. ' A letter was read from the pastor, announcing that he had been appointed Fiscal Secretary ot the University at Wooster, and that he Jeslred tbe congregation to unite with him In asking the Presbytery to dissolve the pastoral relation between him and them. - A committee was appointed, consisting of Messrs. Amos Layman, B. D. Harrison and M. M. Green, to prepare appropriate resolutions for the consideration of the meeting.' In a short time, ilr. Layman, from tbe committee, reported the following pream ble and resolutions, which were unani mously adopted : Whereas, Our beloved pastor, Rev. W. B. Marshall, D.V., has written a letter to this congregation, asking them to unite with him in a request to the Presbytery, which will meet iu this church to-morrow, to dissolve his pastoral relation with tbi people, owing to the fact that he has recently been chosen Fiscal Secretary of the University at Wooster; and . We copy the following matters from the Report: During the year ending June 24, 1869, the number of students in attendance was 157, divided as follows Seniors, 29; Juniors, 24; Sophomores, 29; Freshmen, 21; Preparatory Department, 26; Scientific Department, 21; Optional Coarse, 7. The receipts of the University from all sources during the year, were $12,010.79; expenses, $12,262.40. Since the close of the last school yean the Board of Trustees has added to the corps of Protessors, Colonel C. H. Carlton, of the United States Army, as Professor of Military Service and Tactics. During the past year an addition to the main building has been completed at a cost of about $20,000, which sum has been raised entirely by subscription from the Trustees, Alumni, and other friends ot tbe Univer sity. Another addition, similar to that al ready built, is still needed to complete the msin building, but tbe Beard has not the fuuds at command to prosecute the im provement. The fifteenth annual report of the Trust ees ot tbe Northern juinaiio Asylum nas been received by Governor Hayes. We gather tbe following from the report : On November 16, 1868, there were 71 males and 87 female patients In the asy lum. There have been admitted during tbe year 150 male and 133 female patients. Discharged, 66 males and 64 lemales. Under treatment, 221 males and 225 females. Remaining iu the asylum on November 15, 1S69, 155 males and 161 females. Daily average, 293 69-100. Ot those discharged, there were 77 fully recovered in intellect, 13 improved, and 7 unimproved. The deaths amounted to 30. Tbe institution is represented by the Trustees as being crowded to Its utmost capacity, which is 300. They recom mend that the building be completed ac cording to tbe original design, which will increase its capacity to 450. The Trustees express the opinion that the farm connected with the Asylum should - be enlarged. On the 15th of October a new feature was adopted at the institution, embracing a course of lectures to tho patients. Four lectures have already been delivered, with excellent results, and tbe course will be continued through the winter. Of the 119 patients received from the Central Asylum of this city, tbe most of them were chronic cases, from which there were only ten recoveries, making the average number of recoveries much less than it would have been otherwise. Tbe Trustees estimate the general ex penses lor the coming year at to,uw. Salaries, repairs, etc, $18,000. Total, $7oC00. Buck let's Serknaders. This fine company made their first appearance to a large and delighted audience at the Opera-bouse lagt night, and succeeded in establishing themselves as favorites. The programme was faithfully carried out from beginning to end. The melange ot the second part was well given, and in several instances carried the house by storm. Pursuant to Announcement made more than a week ago in the Statesman, and In no other paper of this city, a meeting of the congregation ot the First Presbyterian Church was held In the audience room of that church on Monday afternoon, Decem ber 20th, to unite with the Pastor, Rev. Dr. Marshall, In asking the Presbytery of Columbus to dissolve the pastoral relation between him and the said conirresratlon. Dr. J. B. Thompson was called to preside and Mr. B. D. Harrison was elected Secretary. ' A letter was read from the pastor, announcing that he had been appointed Fiscal Secretary ot the University at Wooster, and that he Jeslred tbe congregation to unite with him In asking the Presbytery to dissolve the pastoral relation between him and them. - A committee was appointed, consisting of Messrs. Amos Layman, B. D. Harrison and M. M. Green, to prepare appropriate resolutions for the consideration of the meeting.' In a short time, ilr. Layman, from tbe committee, reported the following pream ble and resolutions, which were unani mously adopted : Whereas, Our beloved pastor, Rev. W. B. Marshall, D.V., has written a letter to this congregation, asking them to unite with him in a request to the Presbytery, which will meet iu this church to-morrow, to dissolve his pastoral relation with tbi people, owing to the fact that he has recently been chosen Fiscal Secretary of the University at Wooster; and .
