Robert Apple Named to
Heights School Board
Robert F. Apple, 2447 Dy-
sart Rd., will be appointed
to the Cleveland Heights-
University Heights School
Board at the board's regular meeting May 12.
He will be named to succeed Dr. Louis H. Masotti
who is leaving Cleveland to
teach at the University of
Bologna, Italy, on a Ful-
bright fellowship.
Apple is a native Cleve-
lander and a graduate of
Heights High School. After
graduation from the University of Michigan he served
in the U.S. Air Force then
began a career in advertising in Cincinnati. He returned to Cleveland nine
years ago to join Lang,
Fisher and Stashower Advertising, Inc.

MARRIED AND the father of three school-age children, Apple has been active
in school affairs and has
served as a member of lay
committees of the school
board.
He was co-chairman of
the successful 1967 campaign for a 4.2 mill school
levy, and last year served
as Chairman of the committee that got the controversial 15.4 mill renewal and
7.9 mill additional operating
levies passed in the face of
organized oppostion.
Since February when Dr.
Masotti announced his intention to resign the board

has been screening applica-
tants for his seat on the
board. Twenty-two candidates were on the original
list but two later withdrew
their names.
At the May 12 meeting it
Is expected that Dr. Masotti
will submit his resignation
in writing, and Apple will be
named after the board acts
on Masotti's letter.
School officials said it is
the first time since 1953 that
the board has had to fill a
vacancy resulting from the
resignation of one of its
members.
