Black journalist
on library board
George A. Moore, columnist
on black viewpoints for the
Cleveland Press, Monday was
named to a seven-year term
on the Cleveland Heights-
University Heights Board of
Library Trustees.
-He succeeds Joseph Brieg,
associate editor of the
Catholic Universe Bulletin,
whose term expires Dec. 21.
Brieg was chairman of the
library services committee
arid served as board vice
President this vear.
Moore has a broad
background in written and;
broadcast journalism* and
public relations, as well as in
the theater, education and
intergroup and interfaith
relations.
He spent more than five
years as a reporter and editor
on The Press, 11 years as
news director and public
service director on television
station YVEWS-Channel 5,
eight years as associate
regional director of the
Cleveland chapter of the
National Conference of
Christians and Jews, and
three years as account
executive and news director
of Selvage, Lee and Howard,
Inc., public relations.
He has lectured at a number
of colleges and was creator
and instructor of a course,
"The Black Man in the
Theater," at Cleveland State
University: *
A founder and director of
the Catholic Theater of
Cleveland and Ohio State
University's black student
drama group, Playmakers, he
has also been active at
Karamu House.
Moore is currently
negotiating with Random
House to do an, anthology of
contemporary black drama.
