traveled
over
the
Wheeling
and
Lake
Erie
Railway
and was
organized
by the
Clyde
McKinley
Club
and the
Republican
Clubs
of
Sandusky
County
. The
train
left
Clyde
at
8:45
a.m
.
Rates
were
$1.50
for the
round
trip
, with
reserved
coaches
for the
ladies
. The
cars
were
decorated
with
bunting
, and
75
members
of the
club
were
part
of the
150
people
from
Clyde
traveling
to
Canton
,
along
with
75
people
from the
Fremont
area
already
on the
train
. Also on
board
were the
Glee
Club
and the
McKinley
Sextette
as
well
as the
Clyde
cornet
band
. The
group
arrived
at
Massillon
at
11:40
and
took
electric
cars
to
Canton
at
1:18
,
meeting
up
with the
Green
Springs
contingent
who
had
traveled
to
Canton
on the
Nickel
Plate
Railway
.
Due
to the
rain
, the
meeting
with
McKinley
,
Republican
candidate
for
President
, was
held
in a
nearby
tabernacle
.
Local
Clyde
attorney
Thomas
P
.
Dewey
spoke
before
McKinley
.
McKinley
addressed
the
crowd
, the
Glee
Club
and
Sextettes
sang
, and a
picture
of
Green
Springs
was
presented
to the
candidate
by
W
.
J
.
Merchant
. The
group
then
traveled
to the
McKinley
home
where
Mrs
.
McKinley
was
presented
with a
bouquet
of
yellow
roses
provided
by
Hall
and
Son
Florists
of
Clyde
. By
5:35
the
group
was on
board
the
train
for
Clyde
.
