This portrait shows Cornelius Spring of Fulton County. Milton and Eunice A. Hibbard, and later renamed, 'Tedrow'. The five Spring children were, Ellen (1837-1920), Sylvester (1840-1917), Cornelius M. (Dec. 13,1842-November 23, 1916), Nial (1847-1913), and Sarah (1853-1859). The Spring family lived in a two story log home that was replaced by a wood frame two-story home in 1894. Cornelius married Sarah Ann Eldredge, from the village of Spring Hill. He served in the Civil War as a corporal in company H. of the 86th Ohio Regiment Volunteer Infantry. His brother, Nial C. Spring served as a private in company I of the 67th Ohio Regiment Volunteer Infantry. Two children were born of Cornelius and Sarah: Florence Spring (Maddox) and Everett E. Spring, who was a county commissioner for two terms. A daughter of Everett, Mary lived in Wauseon, OH. After Sarah died, Cornelius married Emma Knapp, who had a daughter from her previous marriage. |
